Vinland Longbows

Vinland longbows is an idea I had.

Its a running hypothesis. What would have happened had the vikings succeeded in maintaining a colony in Vinland. Vinland being the name that they gave Canada. Had they not been frozen out , or violently forced out by the Skraylings ( the name given to the natives they encountered here) They would have fished, and farmed, felled trees, and made connections with the natives, eventually traded with them and exchanged bows and weapons, drink and food. Natives of Vinland Have a Wide variety of bow types , in fact every tribe seems to have their own take on the bow. Back in Europe bows for millennium where build from primarily yew, although some have been built from elm, ash, birch a and even pine.

With not much of yew in Vinland, elm and ash, plenty of pine. And host of brand new never before seen trees to use. The would have to experiment or exchange knowledge about the local trees and vegetation and wood working techniques with the Skraylings. Finding out which of the trees were durable for weapons and tools and which were only good for the fire. They would also encounter strange new animals to use these bows on. The Wild flying single horned three tusked elephant of Vinland made great sport, sadly though died out shortly after the arrival of the vikings hmm mm co-incidence? The mingling of ideas and woods, and techniques is totally hypothetical, and can only be speculated on what would have happened. So I made this company to play with these tools and ideas and to provide them to the hunter, viking, or sports archer at a fair and reasonable rate.
